Riding Shotgun in a Wheelchair

In the twenty years since the Americans with Disabilities Act was signed into law, sidewalk ramps have been installed in many places and accessibility to most public places has been improved, However, wheelchair accessible vehicles have not changed much, with wheelchairs still relegated to the rear of the vehicle. Now, a new vehicle is arriving on the market built specifically for the estimated 4 million Americans who are wheelchair-dependent. In these sporty-looking vehicles, the person in the wheelchair enters the vehicle from a ramp attached to the rear passenger side and then can wheel up to the front of the car, allowing him or her to be a front-seat passenger.
